What ever happened to counting to 10?

Between the recent school shootings and the shooting at Wendy’s today, I’m seriously considering buying a bullet proof vest for going out in public. I turned it down recently since I realized I’d look like a suicide bomber with it on, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna get taken out by another coward on a suicide rampage. Enough is enough.

Get a hold of your emotions America! Talk to somebody, call a hooker, take up boxing…..SOMETHING! But what is the deal with the mental illness and not confronting your issues. I’ve got a couple basket cases in my own family and I’m amazed how they continue to run away from their problems and make excuses instead of confronting them.

I could have let my issues with my father fester until it boiled into a nice vat of suicide rampage, but I went against my emotions and did what I knew I needed to do….since my life would be a lot easier this way. Had I let my emotions take control, I’d probably be 6 feet under right now….seriously. Now that I think of it, I’d probably be there anyway since I doubt I would have caught my cancer in time if I hadn’t met Kira.

My point is that in any situation, you can consult your emotions, or you can try and think of the best possible scenario to better your life. Consulting your emotions is the default and easiest for a lot of people, but trust me, calming yourself down and thinking rationally pays off big time in the long run. Problem is, everyone always wants to take the easier path. The other issue is that the more you let your emotions take over, the easier it is to continue to let emotions rule your life until you reach the point where you’re unable to function.

Oh my god, I didn’t know that happened at Wendy’s!! That is so crazy!!! Did you hear about the Lane Bryant murders? These 5 women were just shopping at a Lane Bryant in Chicago (or maybe 4 because 1 was a worker there) and this guy came in, rounded them all up, brought them to the back, and shot them execution-style in the back of the head! It is so sad hearing about all of these senseless killings…what a shame :(

Wow, I didn’t hear about the Lane Bryant thing. On the one hand we have to realize that these things don’t exactly happen everyday and the chances of something like this happening to us are pretty slim. But on the other, the fact that it did happen to someone (and it could’ve been us) is pretty awful to think about.

I just wish people would confront mental illness more often instead of pushing it away as an afterthought.
