The deluded believers may be guarded regards talking about their religious beliefs when in public, but amongst their own, that’s all they talk about. It’s a case of constant backing up the delusion. Also, it seems to me that they are reluctant to talk about it in public because they deep down, really know it’s nonsense and they get a little bit embarassed. They are scared of being labelled an idiot. For good reason I’d say…

I don’t think the issue is living righteously, since I live righteously. The issue is worshipping such a god that would demand worship “or else”. And no, in your scenario, I would not worship Cheeses Ghrist.

If I say I found literature from 2000 years ago that is undeniably legitamate, and said that god’s son, Cheeses Ghrist, died on a post, and you had to be the best person you could ever be after 240 months of life on this earth otherwise you would live an eternity in a pit of lava, it wouldn’t be motivation enough for you to live life on complete righteousness?? I would like your thoughts on that without an unbiased opinion to hypothical nature of the question.

You have a very imaginative mind with very good ideas. I just believe that some of the content is a bit biased (with the American Idol and Soaps comment standing out). The idea of religion being a questionable thought to anyone with an active free thinking mind (for a lack of unbiased words) is one i share and it was refreshing to find someone share such ideas online. I kept the quote “If you hold the truth, what’s up with the automatic hostility toward anyone that claims you’re wrong? He created it however He pleased. both instantly (say in the blink of an eye) with a word or a thougth, or be it with some time if He wanted to (as when he shaped us with his own hands). God is almighty and anything is possible for Him. He has put laws into our understanding that we are to feel his creation in a way that for us, it took a very long time. But in reality, since anything is possibe for Him, these are just rules. Just like it is a rule that if your hand comes in contact with any “hard” surface, it should stop. Did you not learn thru science that the atom is made of almost nothing?. Everything is made of spoken words, thoughts or rules (let there be light! and there was light). Just look at yourself in a dream, then realize that just like anything is possible in our dreams, so it is to God. A dream is the mirror thru which we can also believe that anything is possible with God who is Spirit and is not bound to a body like we are. And since He’s eternal, for Him, time is of no concern. And who is to understand of his origin? did He have a beginning? For us, because we are like a vapor that soon vanishes, we are limited and so is our undestanding. Just remember: It is not God who is far from us. It is us that stray away from Him thru sin. Maybe one day, Thru his mercy maybe when we are with Him in spirit, he might speak to us about things we never knew!

OK I got to say something on this. I know I’m new to this site but still fell I should point out an obvious point about religions. They are one of the main points that start wars. So to say they do not hurt anyone is a lie. I myself have been hit while in church (doing research for a paper I had to write) with a Bible for asking things like “if God is the all mighty Creator how did he come to life?” Now granted I am atheists but I have an open mind. Also I grew up in a strict Christian family. I have read the Bible (I think all of them plus the Caron to get an understanding on Muslim culture too). I am sure there are other religious books/guides I have not read and probably wont read due to the fact that from what I have read they all say almost the same thing just in a different wording.

Mainly it would be a “geek” station but that’s cuz I like scifi. But the thing about mine yes they air on other stations but they are all on other networks. So I mean it would not be anything new but would be a stereotype of what “geeks” want. I would bring back a show that use to be on g4 called tech TV. I know it would have to have another name and cast but would be one thing that would run every night at about 9pm est. Granted name for the network would more then likely not be wet but you can see where I am going with this.

As low as I set my expectations for the shows, I guess I was just shocked that they were as bad as they really were.

It’s like watching a low-budget imitation of Good Times put together by lazy writers that stole bits from every black stand-up and sit-com ever.

Like I said in the piece, I think the initial idea behind BET when it started was great, but it’s certainly run its course and may actually be hurting it’s original purpose of giving blacks a deserving voice on television to level the playing field. It’s creating more division than erasing lines at this point.

But, the programming you described for WET is exactly what you see on every channel anyway, so I’m not sure how that would be any different than Spike TV or A&E or any other station that plays programming like that.
