Is religion the psychological equivalent to taking steroids?

I have to preface this post by saying that in comparing the two, I am in no way trying to suggest that religion should be made illegal. I realize that if we all found out god wasn’t real tomorrow, far too many people would lose their minds and make our world a literal hell.
That said, I now return you to our regularly scheduled program…
At first glance, comparing religion to steroids can seem a bit bold and even offensive to a lot of people, which is understandable. That doesn’t mean the …

10 Reasons the Yankees won’t win the World Series

Hold on there all you naive sportswriters and Yankee fans. I thought the Yankees tried this approach for the past five or so years where they went after every top player they could throw money at and/or trade their entire farm system to get? It didn’t work then, it’s not going to work now, and here’s why:
1. Only one team has won the World Series with the highest paid player in the last 80 years
Technically, no team has done it since the 1928 Yankees with Babe Ruth as the game’s …

Thanking God for sick nasty athletic skills

Here we have authorities confirming that the remains of a murdered toddler are in fact those of Caylee Anthony, and I guarantee that during the course of tonight’s FCS Championship game, I’ll see some tool kneel down and/or point to the sky to thank god for allowing him to score a touchdown.
Just so I have it straight: God’s plan was for some meathead to put up six points in a football game, and for a toddler to be murdered and discarded like cigarette butt…and people are brazen enough to call …

The link between O.J. and Emmett Till

This whole O.J. saga came to a sad end last week, no matter how you look at it. Whether you hate the guy, or think he got a raw deal with his sentencing, it’s still an awful story for everyone involved. O.J. going to jail for however many years isn’t going to bring Nicole Brown or Ron Goldman back, so it’s not as if O.J. detractors should celebrate this as some sort of ‘victory’. That said, I’d like to go on record to say that the man probably belongs in …

Clemens the liar, cheater, philanderer…and pedophile?

Just when you think the man can’t possibly reach a new height to his egomania.
The legal battle has yet to take place, but I don’t think I could trust human beings or my own personal judgment anymore if it turns out that Clemens has been telling the truth this whole time.
I mean the guy stands alone in accusing Brian McNamee of falsely naming him in the Mitchell Report when the other three have come forward and admitted guilt. He denied being at a party where photos have allegedly surfaced showing …

It’s obvious by now that Major League Baseball couldn’t care less about the growing length of baseball games. Many people cite the slow pace of the game as their reason for not watching baseball, and I can’t blame them. Who wants to watch a guy throw a pitch every 30 seconds and a batter adjust every fiber of every accessory on his body between pitches?
Games are too damn long nowadays, and while television and increased offense have played significant roles in the rising length of games, I think a lot …

I applied for a Fantasy Sports Web Designer position with ESPN last Wednesday, and was shocked to actually hear back from them at all, much less so soon on Monday. Here’s the basic job description:
ESPN’s Digital Media team is seeking an ambitious and bright designer to support our Fantasy business. The position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, with an experienced design background preferably in the sports and Online / Digital Media space. Ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of combined design experience.

A friend of mine said he …

This isn’t the traditional type of fear where you fear a guy striking you out and looking like an idiot. This is the ‘fear for your life’ type of fear. The type of pitcher you dread facing given his 100 mph fastball and propensity for the wild pitch.
Jason Neighborgall is a scout’s dream on paper, but a manager’s worst nightmare on the mound. Scouts have rated both his fastball and curveball at an 80 (which is the highest scouting grade on a scale of 20 to 80). For whatever reason …

I know Steve Kerr was like the third wheel to Jordan and Pippen, but will someone please pull these idiot sportswriters off of his scrotum long enough to admit that this Shaq deal was indescribably bad for the Phoenix Suns. I won’t spend a long time on this subject since it’s very simple to understand.
Steve Kerr, the GM of the Suns, traded the fantasy basketball player’s wet dream, Shawn Marion, for the delightfully entertaining (but old and immobile) Shaquille O’Neal on February 7th, and the Suns have been…ahem…eclipsed….ever since (ok, …

Roger Clemens gives new meaning to the term douchebag. His douchebaggery has officially let all other douchebags off the hook for whatever douchebaggage they were carrying.
Let’s try and lay this whole drama out and make it as easy as possible.
First, the case for Clemens:

Roger Clemens swore under oath that he never took HGH or had Brian McNamee inject him with HGH.
Clemens swore under oath that he was never at the 1998 party at Jose Canseco’s house.
In a recorded phone conversation, Clemens asked McNamee to “tell the truth” to which McNamee …
